BAMBOLIM: RSS Goa Prant leader Subhash Velingkar on Sunday said swayamsevaks of the outfit will continue to support the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM). He went on to say that they (the swayamsevaks) would be like Narasimha and go all out to defeat the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly elections. The polls are due early 2017.
Velingkar said that RSS Goa Prant will strongly oppose the decision of the current BJP government of giving grants to 132 English medium schools and informed that they will follow the path shown by Dr KB Hegdewar and work for the upliftment of Hinduism, Hindu Samaj and the Indian culture.
Addressing the meeting attended by nearly 2,000 supporters, Velingkar defended his move to float a parallel outfit saying that “some leaders wanted to dictate terms and they could not compromise on the ideology.”
“We will remain swayamsevaks till our last breath. We have to be like Narisimhas and defeat the opponents, who are trying to destroy our culture and are out to muzzle our mother tongue,” said Velingkar addressing the first convention of RSS Goa Prant at KB Hegdewar School.
He also blamed the former Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar for not protecting regional languages like Konkani and Marathi, as primary languages at primary schools in Goa and on the other hand blamed the BJP government for backing English over regional languages.
Meanwhile, the RSS Goa Prant passed four resolutions during the first convention, stating that all the members of the outfit will support BBSM and their agitations in all possible manners.
Again voting for the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections would lead to a massive destruction of the local culture and language and people should be wary of this.
“Sarsanghchalak can be wrong, but the Sangh cannot, you will never find a single swayamsevak who agrees with the BJP’s move to support English language,” said Velingkar.
Further stating that the BJP government in Goa has completely failed in fulfilling the promises made by them Velingkar accused Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar not being able to keep his promises.
He said if voted to power again, the BJP will destroy the culture and continue to dole out grants to English medium schools, which will in turn lead to anti-nationalisation.
Speaking on the dual citizenship issue, he said the BJP is completely giving into the demands made by the Christian community. People in Goa, which was a Portuguese colony, can easily apply for Portuguese Nationality.
“Goans who have Portuguese citizenship can buy or sell their properties here any time they wish to do so, can apply for jobs here and even be on high posts in the government. This should not happen and they should immediately leave the country or give up their Portuguese citizenship. The BJP government has to come clean on this,” Velingkar concluded.
