The “Save Madhei Save Goa front is organising a massive 7 km human chain event on May 20 from Caranzalem to Santa Monica jetty approximately 7,000 to 8,000 people are expected to participate in solidarity with the Mhadei River issue.
The front has urged the people of Goa to join in large numbers for this movement. Mahesh Mahambre, a member of the front said, “We have called NGOs, political parties to come and participate in this initiative to save Mhadei. We need to show that we are the saviours of Mhadei, we will always be there for Mhadei and we will fight until it totally comes back to Goa.”

The front also stated it is crucial to establish a connection with the Mahdei River to fully understand and appreciate these benefits. Furthermore, it is through a united and widespread mass movement that the government can be persuaded and convinced about the importance of this cause.
On Wednesday, under the banner of ‘Save Tiger, Save Mhadei’ front flagged off their Motorcycle Rally in Bardez taluka from Dev Bodgeshwar Devasthan. The rally will continue for the next two days, wherein all 35 panchayats and one municipal council of Bardez Taluka will be covered. Their demand is to notify the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary as a Tiger Reserve.
For the ‘Human Chain’ event that will be held on May 20 in Panjim, every Goan who would like to participate is invited to come to join in for the event at 4:06 PM, wearing white and blue colours (dupatta or scarf) to celebrate the existence of Goa and admire its beauty. Artists, musicians, and poets will sing ‘Mhadei’ and from there, they will take this movement forward.
