Will follow up Chinchinim locals’ demands with Govt, assures Guv

MARGAO: At the special visit to Sarzora and Chinchinim, Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai assured the villagers of Chinchinim to follow up with the government pertaining to long pending demands including upgradation of primary health centre and re-alignment of National Highway 66. 

Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai visited Benaulim and Velim Constituencies of Salcete Taluka on Saturday as part of “Goa Sampurna Yatra”.

He visited village panchayats of Carmona and Sarzora and interacting with sarpanch and members of village panchayats of Colva, Seraulim, Benaulim, Varca, Carmona, Orlim, Cavelossim, besides Velim, Ambelim, Chinchinim, Assolna, Aarzora, Dharmapur, San-Jose-de-Areal and also disburse financial aid to the dialysis patients. 

During the field visit, Velim MLA Cruz Silva and Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas, accompanied the Governor.

On behalf of Chinchinim-Deussa Village Panchayat, Sarpanch Valentino Barreto submitted a memorandum to the Governor and urged for an appointment to express in detail the facts of the proposals. 

Panch Frank Viegas told Herald that the Governor has assured to follow up with the Government of Goa pertaining to the issues affecting the Chinchinim Village Panchayat.

It has been brought to the notice of the Governor through the memorandum that National Highway 66 passes through thickly populated residential areas and the said NH 66 is proposed for expansion to increase the width of the road. 

The panchayats have urged the Governor to intervene in the matter in diverting the section by proposing a bypass.  

Further, requested to shift the present sub health centre at Dandeavaddo, Chinchinim to Baida for the benefit of the people.
