CCP to rope in GEC to tackle flooding

PANJIM: Commissioner of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Agnelo Fernandes said the CCP with the help of Goa Engineering College (GEC) will come up with the permanent solution to tackle the issue of flooding in Panjim city.

“With the help of the GEC, Water Resource Department (WRD), Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), the CCP will come up with the ways and measures to put a complete end to the yearly inundation of Panjim city during monsoon,” Fernandes said.

Adding to this, Prof Dr K G Guptha, Head of Civil Engineering Department, GEC informed that the students of GEC had carried out a survey to find out the solution for mitigating the flood-like situation that occurs in Panjim every year. 

He informed that they have identified the critical points in the city where the major waterlogging is likely to take place. 

“The GEC with the network of IPSCDL and WRD will soon come up with a design to mitigate this problem,” added Dr Guptha.
