PANJIM: Off-shore casinos got another breather after the State cabinet on Wednesday decided to grant them another six-month extension to carry on conducting operations in River Mandovi.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said his government will take a final call on re-location of casinos by December. “The final call on casinos would be taken by December and the meetings for this would commence by mid-October,” Parrikar said, addressing a post cabinet media briefing.
This is the second 6-month extension given by the Parrikar cabinet the earlier one being at the very first cabinet meet after he assumed power with the help of coalition partners in March this year.
This time, however, Parrikar has assured to take a final decision in the next three months. “Though extension is given for six months I do not require that much time,” Parrikar stated.
In the July Assembly session Parrikar had assured the House that all casinos would be re-located to land in a special zone called “Entertainment Zone”.
