GSPCB ranked sixth in country for its performance

PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) is ranked sixth in the country for its performance by the Central pollution authority. 
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in its final audit report submitted before National Green Tribunal (NGT) Principal Bench has ranked Goa 6th in the performance out of total 35 SPCBs it audited. The State’s total score is 75.36. 
 NGT in its order passed in January, this year had directed CPCB to conduct a performance audit of all the State Pollution Control Boards across country within six months.  
The performance audit has been conducted considering the aspects like environmental quality monitoring, enforcement and regulatory functions, data management and public outreach, advisory for decision making, research, development and training and specific observations by the expert team of CPCB. 
As per the report, Goa stands first with 21.88 score on environmental quality monitoring. It has also scored 22.43 in enforcement and regulatory functions, and 17.93 in data management and public outreach.
