PANJIM:?The Old Goa police are likely to arrest the two labourers accused of assaulting Shivaji at the behest of accused Osban and Bhagwe. Shivaji was allegedly tied to a pole, near the hutments and beaten after he had a drunken brawl with Bhagwe, according to the police.
Osban who was also drunk asked the labourers to beat him continuously. The attackers later tried to resuscitate Shivaji, but he was already dead and his body was buried the next morning.
One of the eye witnesses has confessed to the police that Osban forced him and others to beat Shivaji. “I pretended I was not well because I did not want to beat Shivaji but Osban forced me to. I then hit him gently twice or thrice and went from there,” the witness said.
