PONDA, FEB 2 (HC) — Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) on Monday demolished two structures in the town along the area earmarked for road-widening work.
The PMC squad, supervised by Municipal Inspector Arun Naik, demolished the structure of Vishnu Bombagkar at Shantinagar and a structure belonging to Vishnu Naik at Upper Bazaar.
PMC sources informed Herald that the demolition drive would continue till all illegal structures are removed from the road-widening area.
It may be recalled that former PMC administrator P K Patidar had initiated the demolition drive following directives of the high court. The drive was, however, discontinued once the new PMC was elected and the demolitions were resumed only on Monday.
