PANJIM: The first cabinet meeting after a gap of almost 90 days took several important decisions including the extension of mining debt relief scheme and hike in salaries of para teaches, but could not reach a decision on lifting the moratorium on employment.
A day after chairing the Investment Promotion Board meeting, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar also chaired a full-fledged cabinet meeting, the first since August 1, 2018. The cabinet cleared six of the seven items on agenda.
It granted exemption of registration fees of Rs 3,61,478 in respect of Deed of Gift to Diocesan Society of Education (DSE) besides clearing the proposal for revision of selling prices of APL food grains, to increase profit margin to fair price shops (FPS) and to fix rent of point of sale (PoS) devices to the FPS. This was done as the fair price shops in Goa have opposed the installation of PoS devices claiming that it may hit their profits.
The cabinet also cleared the amendment to the ‘Financial incentives to
mothers who deliver a girl child (MAMTA) Scheme’.
TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai speaking to the media said the major decision of the cabinet was the appointment of 132 para teachers for a period of 10 months by enhancing monthly remuneration from Rs 12,000 to Rs 32,000 per month.
“Establishing IT Cell and Revenue Assurance support team for a period of three years by placing order on RECPDCL on nomination basis was also finalised,” Sardesai stated.
He said that in addition to this the Cabinet also took a few decisions on table items like debt relief scheme for mining dependents that has been extended till March 2019 for trucks and barges.
Sardesai said that the notification of 28 sq meter of land as IPB area has been deferred due to strong objections from the members. “There was strong objection as certain member also said it was a private forest, so it has been sent back to the IPB for more clarification on the issue,” he said.
He further said the cabinet also deliberated on the allotment of shacks at Palolem as it is a grave injustice to the locals.
Asked about recruitments, Sardesai replied, there will be another meeting on recruitments soon. “CM has said we will meet exclusively on employment in the next 15 days,” he said.
