Ward no 4 at Sada marked as micro-containment zone

56 samples collected from residents of the area on Friday; More testing underway

Vasco: The district administration has declared ward number 4 Pandav Vada, Headland Sada as a micro-containment zone.  

It may be recalled that recently the area was barricaded and police are monitoring the entry and exit into the area following the detection of COVID-19 cases there.

When contacted, Sachin Dessai, Deputy Collector of Mormugao, informed that the micro-containment zone in ward 4 has been cordoned off and that the swab sample collection and COVID-19 testing is in progress. 

56 swab samples were collected from residents of the area by the Health Department on Friday and such testing will continue in the days to come.  

Mormugao Municipal Councillor Damodar Kaskar said that arrangements have been made with regard to the supply of essential commodities to the people from that zone but that so far he had not received any list of demands from the wards residents.  

“Residents from the micro-containment zone have been given helpline numbers in case any need arises of essential commodities, which will be provided to the people. We have also identified the volunteers from this area, who all will do the job of supplying the essential items to the households from this area,” the Deputy Collector added.

Meanwhile around 70 swab samples were collected from random residents of the Bada Mangor area and their test results are awaited. 

Vasco and places near the Mangor hill containment zone are tense following the developments and the rise in the number of cases.
