Scale of testing underway in Raia to increase

margao: The doctors and team of the Loutolim Primary Health Centre (PHC) are on their toes as families of the positive patients from Raia are now on the COVID-19 radar.

The medical team conducted swab tests in various areas of Manora and other parts of Raia on Friday. 

The team of the PHC collected swabs of 33 various persons on Friday following the developments wherein 7 cases were found in Raia. 

More such samples are being collected and the PHC is also collecting samples of the persons who had come with flu-like complaints and these have also been sent for testing. 

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, the Raia residents have requested all the poders and fishermen coming from outside their village, not to venture into Manora Raia for at least three days.

The villagers have taken this stand as they say that the cases have increased and there is fear among the people that they may further increase in the coming days due to contact with affected persons. 

The villagers have decided to launch a campaign to make sure social distancing is maintained and hygiene is also upheld to battle the dreadful infection.

Curtorim village has also restricted entry of outsiders into their area following the spike in cases and testing is underway by the Curtorim PHC.
