vasco: All the 1449 seafarers who had arrived via Celebrity Infinity Cruise ship at MPT on Thursday were tested for COVID-19 and all their tests came back as negative on Friday.

MPT officials stated that all these seafarers will be stamped by the government authorities and they will be sent home where they will remain under home quarantine for some time.
On Friday, Jerry Clement, a MPT official said all the swab samples were collected and tested on Thursday as per the SOP. He added that all process of immigration and custom clearance is underway. After that is completed, he added that around 350-400 seafarers will go home on Friday evening itself. Subsequently, the others will also return home later on.
Clement also clarified that there was error regarding the total number of seafarers, while confirming that it is 1449.
The news of all seafarers testing positive has been welcomed by all. The families of the seafarers have been waiting for a long time to meet the sailors.
