CAC stop-gap arrangement, says TCP Minister

Vijai says absence of BJP representative from committee won’t affect its functioning

PANJIM: Stating that the Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC) is a stop-gap arrangement, CAC member and Minister Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday said that the absence of a BJP representative from the committee will have no major harm in administrative decisions.
Sardesai was reacting to the Herald report that stated ‘Crisis deepens as Francis (D’Souza) takes a holiday’.  D’Souza, is on a tour to Portugal.
“CAC is a stop-gap arrangement. It would not last for long as we cannot run the State through advisory committee forever. This is just an interim arrangement till the time Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar comes back and take charge,” he said.
Sardesai added, “The absence of BJP representative from CAC will not cause any major harm in decision making. There is no question of administrative collapse in the State.”
Parrikar is currently in USA undergoing medical treatment. The CAC, constituted in March for a period of one month, has been granted a third extension in term till June 30.
Parrikar is expected to be back by June end to attend the monsoon session of the State Assembly, which will be summoned in July.
