Monkey fever causes panic in Sattari

VALPOI: Carcasses of two monkeys found at Koparde have created a fear in the village as seven people have been admitted in the hospital with symptoms of monkey fever.

A resident was admitted today in the Valpoi hospital after complaining of a severe headache and body pain. Last week six persons from Mauxi and Zarme were admitted with similar symptoms. Blood and urine samples have been sent for analysis. The results are expected tomorrow.
Health officials, along with the veterinary and persons from the Forest Department, visited the site where the carcasses of the primates were discovered in the Koparde village. They have asked the villagers to keep them away from the infected place.
