Vishnu Wagh says he’s not a sellable commodity

PANJIM: Setting aside speculations about instability in the BJP-led government in the State, MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh, who was reportedly tipped to be first one to withdraw his support to the government, on Saturday categorically, stated that ‘Wagh is not a sellable commodity’.
Addressing a press conference, Wagh refuting all rumors about instability in the government said, “Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is currently abroad, has full faith on his MLAs and ministers that they will continue smooth functioning of the government in his absence.”
“How can we let down our State leader?” he questioned.
Rumors were in the air that Wagh has expressed his displeasure over functioning of the government. The speculations mounted after St Andre MLA met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and that he was offered the North Goa Lok Sabha ticket.
Some sections of the media had reported that moves are on to bring down the government in absence of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, who are on a foreign trip. Wagh said that though in the past there have been instances wherein State Legislative Assembly has been dissolved in absence of the Chief Minister, the same will not happen in BJP government.
“Wagh is not a sellable commodity…I have fought the elections on people power and not on money power,” Wagh said adding ‘no doubt I have some indifferences with government on certain issues and the same have been brought to the notice of the government’.
“I am not a person who will backstab,” he commented.
BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said that in absence of Chief Minister several rumors are been spread about instability in government. “Government is stable and considering the number of seats BJP won, the opposition will have to wait for its tenure to get over,” he said.
