Monsoon creates havoc in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: Heavy rains that lashed Bicholim for the last two days have kept the Bicholim fire fighters on their toes with the officials attending more than 27 calls of tree falling on houses and on roads.

BICHOLIM: Heavy rains that lashed Bicholim for the last two days have kept the Bicholim fire fighters on their toes with the officials attending more than 27 calls of tree falling on houses and on roads. 
The total loss of property is estimated at Rs. 7 lakhs while firemen saved property worth Rs. 10 lakhs. Trees fell and damaged several houses. Trees also fell on roads at Latambarcem, Advalpal, Chodan and other areas due to which traffic was disrupted for many hours. Power cuts was also reported in areas like Mayem, Mulgao, Bicholim, Maulingem, Bordem and some areas of Sakhali as trees fell on electricity cables. Water stagnated at different places due to improper drainage system.
WRD today pumped out stagnant water from Bicholim and Sanquelim market area.
