Mardol FC win Ilhas Zone GFA Third Div League

PANJIM: Mardol Football Club emerged champions of the Goa Football Association Third Division League Ilhas Zone following their comprehensive 4-0 win over Ronit Sports Club, at Taleigao ground, on Sunday.
In a keenly contested battle, both the sides put up a good show in the opening minutes of the game playing end to end football. Missed chances and plenty of opportunities —were the stats of the first 30 minutes.
Mardol SC finally broke the deadlock in the 44th minutes through their star striker Clatus Godinho, who danced his way past couple of rival defenders before slotting home. Mardol FC led 1-0 at the breather.
Crossing over, Ronit SC tried to get back in the game, but all their efforts were thwarted by a strong Mardol FC defence, who played as a unit.
Agnelo Godinho then doubled the account for Mardol FC in the 69th minute before he completed his brace in the 72nd minute to kill all the hopes of any comeback by Ronit SC.
Once down by three goals, Ronit SC virtually gave up on the game which saw them play the ball across the field.
Finally, Clatus Godinho scored the team’s fourth goal in the dying minutes of the game to complete the rout and also register his brace.
GFA Vice President North Lavinio Rebello and other executive committee members were present for the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
