Khaunte launches drainage works at Porvorim

Construction of the drainages at Porvorim kicked off on Saturday at the hands of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte. Khaunte stated that the drains were of utmost importance as they would ensure a smooth flow of water and prevent water-logging during the monsoons.
Around Rs 66 lakh will be spent on drainages in Porvorim. The Public Works Department will execute the task.
Khaunte also stated that the sports complex at Socorro, market complex at Alto-Betim, and the service road would be completed soon. He added that three panchayats – Penha de Franca, Socorro and Salvador do Mundo – had commenced door-to-door collection of garbage. If he got sufficient support from the state government, Khaunte stated he would endeavour to make Porvorim a clean, green, and model constituency. Penha de Franca Sarpanch Radhika Sawant, dy-sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, panchas Safar Phadte, Gajanan Halarnkar, and Blanch D’Souza, and PWD engineers were present.
