Villagers are also going to be present for the inspection, and they have already demanded that the PWD provide all details before starting the work on the bypass.
It may be recalled that, at the gram sabha, member Jose Roque Andrade had raised points with the Nuvem sarpanch in connection with the bypass, while social activist Zarinha da Cunha termed the bypass as illegal and demanded that the dumped mud be removed to prevent flooding of the village during the rainy season.
“If the bypass is constructed without making a proper provision for rainwater to flow and by filling agricultural land, low-lying areas and water bodies, we will have a situation like the Chennai floods,” said Andrade. He said that all villagers should gather at the site on Tuesday in the larger interest of the village.
