CANACONA: Officials of the Tribal Welfare Department (TWD) will tour all constituencies in the State from February 12 to create awareness on various government schemes available to the tribal communities.
This was stated by Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, while addressing the inaugural function of the two-day Yuva Utsav 2013 at Matvem-moll in Khola in Canacona Taluka.
“The TWD team will first visit Canacona constituency and tour various villages from February 12 to educate the beneficiaries of various government schemes and to also assist them complete documentations and other formalities,” the minister said.
The TWD team will later undertake a similar exercise in all other constituencies in the State.
“If we allow our cultural roots to get uprooted, everything else will end. We have seen countries disintegrate on cultural lines,” said Tawadkar, while highlighting the importance of preserving the cultural identity of the State.
Goa Law Commissin Chairman Narendra Sawaikar, Khola ZP member Krishna Velip, Sancoale ZP Aparna Naik and folk artiste Ladu Parwar also spoke on the occasion.
