The issue over waste collection and disposal figured at the Sunday gram sabha meeting when members demanded to know the steps initiated by the Panchaya to overcome the waste problem.
The Sarpanch informed that the sites proposed by the Panchayat body for waste disposal did not find favour with the Goa State Pollution Control Board. Dourado said the Panchayat is facing the problem of storage of waste given that the Panchayat is functioning from a rented premise.
The issue over the construction of a panchayat ghar also came up for discussion. There was division amongst the members over the selection of the site as the site selected by the Panchayat failed to find favour with the Town and Country Planning department. While some members said the Panchayat should re-start the process, others said that the Panchayat ghar should not be built in a low-lying area.
Replying to a question on the state of the roads, the Sarpanch also informed the gram sabha that the PWD has tendered hot mixing works to the tune of Rs 1.72 crore and the work would commence after the PWD issues the work order.
Members also highlighted the inconvenience faced by the villagers due to frequent closure of the railway level crossing and demanded immediate attention by
the authorities.
