PANJIM: The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal, emerged champions in State under-14 inter-school girls football championship organised by DSYA beating Our Lady of the Rosary High School, Dona Paula, 5-0 in the finals at Dramapur ground.
King’s School set a double record as they did not concede a single goal throughout the tournament and also became the first South Goa District as well as Salcete Taluka school to win the prestigious title.
King’s opened the scoring in the 3rd minute through Neha Verlekar following an assist from Valaina Fernandes. After missing several chances, they consolidated the lead through Analee D’Costa who netted off a pass from Valaina. Rosary then conceded the third goal with Valaina finishing a move from Neha.
Analee scored the 4th goal with an assist from Vania Rodrigues, and striker Valaina rounded off the tally off Neha.
