“All the major parties such as BJP, Congress, MGP and AAP have filled candidates on party lines. So now, this has become a semi-final of the assembly election. There is a fight between Congress and BJP in Bardez and North Goa but somehow we have to convince the people to vote for development”, he added.

He was addressing mediapersons during the birth anniversary celebrations of Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand (Bhausaheb) Bandodkar in Calangute.

Lobo also responded to queries about why y BJP has not taken any action against its former MLA Kiran Kandolkar for rebelling with party.

“Kiran Kandolkar is hurt because he knows his chances of getting a BJP ticket for the next election are very rare since the sitting MLA who have come into BJP from Congress is likely to get the ticket. By contesting the ZP election he is creating a base. If he loses, then he is no more in the list for getting a BJP ticket,” he said.

On a different note, he expressed confidence that the BJP candidate will win the ZP seat in Socorro.

“MLA Rohan Khaunte’s dominance has diminished because during his two-and-a-half-year tenure in the cabinet, he failed to give justice to the people of Porvorim. He failed to deliver on the promises he had made and failed to bring changes in the ministries that he was holding,” Lobo added further.
