PANJIM: The Goa government, following a directive from the Government of India, has announced a seven-day state mourning to honour the late Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India.

During the mourning period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across the state on all buildings where it is regularly displayed. Additionally, no official entertainment will take place during this time.
Dr Singh passed away on 26 December at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi after a prolonged illness. He had a distinguished 15-year career in public service, serving as India’s Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996 and as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
