PANJIM: With the Sesa Goa management declaring the ‘no work no pay’ system that will affect nearly 5000 workers, the Sesa Employees Coordination Committee (SECC) on Wednesday sought Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s intervention to resolve the ongoing agitation by truck owners, thereby resuming mining activities.
SECC has claimed that the Chief Minister assured them that he would resolve the ongoing dispute between the truck owners and Sesa Goa on ore transportation rates, at the earliest. Parsekar has directed Sesa Goa to come up with a solution to the crisis, considering that the truckers are not ready to accept their rate of Rs 8 per tonne per km.
SECC member Abdullah Khan told Herald that the committee, representing around 5000 persons employed in various units of Sesa, met the chief minister with their appeal.
“The chief minister heard us very patiently and assured us that the issue will be resolved soon. He said he had already met Sesa officials and asked them to come up with some solution and thereafter he is going to call truck owners also. He is strongly with all stake holders so that mining operations go smoothly,” he said.
