MARGAO: Aiming to tackle the garbage issue, Aquem-Baixo Village Panchayat on Sunday resolved to impose garbage tax on the shop owners, besides to initiate action plans with regard to treating the wet waste.

An ordinary gram sabha meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Avinash Sardesai, in the presence of Mohan Gaonkar, panchayat secretary and all panchas.
At the meeting, it has been decided to prepare an action plan along with the newly reconstituted garbage committee, pertaining to the wet waste.
As informed by Secretary Gaonkar, the garbage committee will visit a few of the neighbouring panchayats to study treating the wet waste and later they will submit the report to the panchayat body for further action.
