The Margao Municipal Council has decided to place before the special meeting of the Council scheduled on June 15, the proposals received from Ramky Enviro Pvt Ltd and Fomento-IL&FS to set up the 50-ton garbage treatment plant at Sonsodo.
The Civic body has received the two proposals to the Expression of Interest invited towards setting up the Plant at Sonsodo. However, Civic body has found itself in a quandary how to go about the work as the two companies have been silent on the compensation aspect. Both the companies, in their proposals, were silent on whether they would seek compensation for treating garbage as levying tipping charge. They were also silent on the cost factor.
While Chairperson Savio Coutinho told Herald that the special meeting of the Council will decide on the question of which company to engage at Sonsodo, doubts are raised whether the City Fathers will be in a position to decide the question which requires technical expertise.
To break the deadlock, the Civic administration has proposed to request the two companies to make a proposal to set up the processing plant and furnish details on the technical aspect, financial aspect and legal aspect. MMC officials felt the Civic body should constitute a committee of technical official to finalize the proposal.
