MARGAO:  The 12-member opposition group in the 20-member Margao Civic body is bracing up to scrap the controversial e-tender floated by the Municipal body once beleaguered Chairperson is ousted from office.
Since the group may get just two days to initiate the process of scrapping the e-tender given the extended time limit to open the tender expires on September 20, the group is expected to take a call on the controversial tender no sooner they succeed in dislodging Arthur from office.
“There are a host of grounds on which the tender can be scrapped and withdrawn. Scrapping of the e-tender has been our main demand. We would ensure that our demand is implemented once the Chairperson is voted out of office,” remarked an opposition Councillor.
Replying to a question, the Councillor said the opposition group does not foresee any hurdles from the Chief Officer Deepali Naik in getting the e-tender scrapped. “How can the civic body go ahead with a tendering process when a road work is tendered without acquisition of land? Certainly, the tender cannot proceed with glaring discrepancies,” the
Councillor added.
