MARGAO: The 115th annual Dindi festival, a celebration of cultural and traditional significance, will be held in Margao on November 14.

The week-long festivities, which commenced on November 9, will conclude on November 15. The festival originated as a religious function to appease God after a devastating plague in Margao.
This year, certain areas have been designated for the sale of sweets, and classical singers from Pune, Mumbai, and Goa have been invited to perform.
The festival will begin with a procession of Lord Vithal Rukhamaye in a palanquin from Hari Mandir temple, passing through the town before heading to the Vithal Mandir in Comba. The palki will return to the Hari Mandir on November 15 morning. On the way to Comba, Sangeet Bhaitakas will be held by a large number of devotees.
Suhas Kamat, president of Shree Hari Mandir Devasthan, said, “The Dindi celebrations, which commenced on November 9, will conclude on November 15, with the main celebration scheduled on November 14. Religious and cultural activities have been chalked out to make the celebrations a grand success.
This year, certain areas near the post office, Abade Faria Road and near Vitthal Mandir have been earmarked for the sale of sweets.”
Police personnel will be deployed for bandobast duties in the town as a precautionary measure.
Margao Traffic Cell officials said that elaborate traffic arrangements will be made on the main day of the festival.
