RAIA: Maina Sports Club edged past Navelim Villagers Union 6-5 via tie-breaker to enter the final of 23rd Benaulim Villagers Cup football tournament organised by the Dando Boys Club of Benaulim, at Dando ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.
It was Maldino Rodrigues of Maina SC who netted the first goal of the match in the 25th minute but the joy was short-lived as Prestly Gomes of Navelim Villagers Union equalised in the 46th minute. At the end of regulation time, both the team were held to a 1-1 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Maina SC proved to be the better shooters. Maina SC will now meet Guardian Angel SC in the final.
