CURTORIM: Ugem Sports Club defeated St Francis Boys, Mappa 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 4th Damdolem Boys All Goa 7-a-side football tournament, at Raitolem ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In the first half, the score was nil. Both the teams dished out an attacking football trying to score goals but the goalkeepers were equal to the task.
Crossing over, Ugem SC had the upper hand upfront. Benson had the first look at the rival goal in the 35th minute off Anil’s connect. Soon, Anil made it 2-0 for Ugem SC in the 42nd minute.
Two goals down St Francis Boys made a lot of efforts to reduce the margin but in vain. Blasco of Ugem SC blasted a powerful shot which crushed into the nets of St Xavier Boys to increase the lead by 3-0 in the 52nd minute and seal the rival fate.
On Tuesday, Royal Caterers, Curtorim edged past Coconut Grove 3-1 move into the quarter final.
