The BJP has always maintained its firm stand on the Medium of Instruction (MoI) policy to continue giving grants to English medium primary schools.
The party also has claimed that in the recent elections, the RSS split did not affect the party in any way as it believes in taking all sectors of the society and not just one organisation (RSS backed by BBSM).
Speaking to Herald, BJP State President, Vinay Tendulkar said “The new government has a new task of challenges before them but we as a party are still firm on the decision and even before this we have said that our party is firm on its MoI policy to continue grants to English medium primary schools.”
“As far as we are concerned, time and again we have reiterated our stand on MoI. We will go ahead with the policy that we have adopted. As BJP, we respect all the decisions taken by the RSS, but we are an independent political party. BJP takes decisions and moves forward by taking everyone into confidence,” Tendulkar added.
Meanwhile, the state Government granted another extension of 90 days to the 17-member committee on the Medium of Instruction (MoI). The Committee was earlier given extension of 90 days as it was unable to submit a detailed report to the government.
BJP has further said that the government had also constituted the committee to advise on the issue of grants to English medium schools and to study the entire system of grants and financial support to govt aided schools and to improve the overall efficiency for achieving education goals.
Meanwhile, alliance partner Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) has said that the MoI issue is slowly vanishing and was only up to the elections.
Reiterating its stand on the issue of Medium of Instruction (MoI), Goa Forward Party has said that the party stands by the freedom of the parents in choosing MoI for their children.
Speaking to Herald, GFP leader Vijai Sardesai said, “Our party stand is the same. Goa Forward stands by the freedom of the parents in choosing MoI for their children.”
