A helicopter carrying President Droupadi Murmu encountered an unexpected incident on Wednesday when a portion of the helipad tarmac at Pramadam Stadium in Kerala sank shortly after landing. The President is on a four-day official visit to the state and was scheduled to offer prayers at the Sabarimala temple.
According to officials, the helipad surface partially caved in moments after the helicopter touched down, prompting immediate action from police and fire department personnel. Responders manually pushed the aircraft away from the affected area to ensure the safety of the President and crew members.
No injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control swiftly. Authorities are investigating the cause of the tarmac subsidence, and a technical inspection of the helipad has been ordered.
