In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 26-year-old woman from Mau Ranipur in Jhansi district was allegedly thrown off the roof of a two-storey house by her husband and in-laws after she resisted her husband’s attempt to force himself on her.
The survivor, identified as Teeja, told police that she married Mukesh Ahirwar in 2022 after meeting him at a temple, where he had promised to care for her and remain committed for life. Initially, the marriage was peaceful, but things reportedly changed after a year. According to Teeja, her husband began staying away from home for long periods and would physically assault her upon his return.
On Monday, Ahirwar allegedly beat her and tried to force her into sexual relations. The next day, when she resisted another attempt, he and his parents allegedly attacked her and pushed her off the roof of their home.
Local residents, hearing her cries for help, rushed to the spot and found her injured on the ground. They immediately took her to a nearby health centre, from where she was referred to Jhansi Medical College for advanced treatment.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
