The Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved two ordinances related to the Directorate of Panchayats, Directorate of Municipal Administration, and the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to further streamline the implementation of the State’s flagship ‘Mhaje Ghar’ housing scheme.
The amendments aim to enhance efficiency and ensure smoother execution of housing and welfare initiatives under the programme.
In other decisions, the Cabinet approved the recruitment of select contractual staff in the Health Department to strengthen manpower and improve public health service delivery across Goa.
A major move also came with the re-allotment of 2,33,959 sq. m. of land at Dona Paula to the Department of Public Private Partnership (PPP) for developing an International Convention Centre under the PPP model. The project, to be developed without monetary consideration, aims to revive the long-pending plan and boost the State’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) infrastructure.
In the education sector, the Cabinet approved the appointment of 600 primary teachers from the 2025–26 academic year, each to receive a monthly salary of 20,000 fully funded by the State government. The Finance Department has given in-principle approval for these posts.
