There was a heated Navelim gram sab ha meeting, which saw key village-related issues being taken up; however, it was adjourned during a discus sion over temporary staff recruitment. Among the issues raised at the meeting was oppo sition to a mega project, for which a site inspection was held recently. The sar panch read out the notings of that inspection, which will be sent to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department. These include the access road not being six metres as claimed and the project also falling in a low-lying area that could affect the catchment area. Regarding the installation of CCTV cameras, the sar panch said the panchayat body meeting will discuss the demand for putting up more such cameras and that they want to assess the best feasible options first.
The sarpanch also gave updates about waste man agement and said they are in talks with various authorities regarding the matter to find solutions, including working with the Goa Waste Management Corporation, the Directo rate of Panchayats, and the neighbouring Rumdamol panchayat. The sarpanch also cate gorically denied that rules were not followed in re cruiting the two temporary clerks, who he added earn a daily wage. Some villagers were up set that they could not dis cuss the issue of high pow er bills, which they believed was a matter of greater im portance.
