Colva: Raising serious concerns over sewage management, a restaurant owner and hotelier from Colva on Wednesday claimed that the absence of proper sewage connections is severely affecting local businesses.
Addressing a press conference, Simon Rodrigues alleged that the sewage department has failed to provide necessary connections, forcing business owners to spend lakhs of rupees on night soil tankers to dispose of waste.
He further stated that some individuals have been unfairly blaming him and his establishment for releasing sewage into the Colva creek, leading to foul smell and dirty water, which in turn is impacting tourism and customer footfall.
Rodrigues claimed that the primary sources of pollution are from the Colva Residency area and a newly constructed Sulabh toilet facility, adding that he is being wrongly targeted in the matter.
He urged authorities to intervene and address the sewage infrastructure issues at the earliest to prevent further damage to businesses and the local environment.
