Justice Rebello Demands Goa Assembly Reconvened After Ponda Poll Cancellation, Warns of Public Agitation

Former judge Ferdino Rebello has called for the immediate reconvening of the Goa Legislative Assembly, stating that the session was earlier curtailed citing the Ponda by-election and the Model Code of Conduct.

With the by-election now cancelled, Rebello argued that there is no justification to delay legislative proceedings and demanded that the pending Bill be taken up for discussion without further delay.

He warned that failure to act could lead to public mobilisation, signalling growing discontent over the issue. Rebello also held the Election Commission of India responsible for the cancellation of the Ponda poll.

The remarks come amid heightened political developments following the scrapping of the by-election in the Ponda Assembly Constituency, with calls increasing for governance and legislative matters to resume without interruption.
