MARGO: Taking note of the rising number of child labourers in the village, the Raia gram sabha on Sunday urged the panchayat to take note of this menace and take action to ensure that children get to live their childhood.
The villagers asked the panchayat to write to the Labour Department to conduct inspections in the village and identify the child labourers and also to take stringent action against those employing children as labourers.
The increasing cases of garbage being dumped by the roadside was also discussed at the gram sabha and a villager suggested that CCTV cameras be installed at places where garbage is dumped so that the culprits could be identified.
The panchayat was asked to levy a hefty fine on the person identified to be dumping garbage in the village and said that such stringent action will stop people from converting the village into a garbage dump yard.
