The much-awaited Porvorim six-lane elevated corridor is nearing completion, with load testing and finishing work currently underway, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat said.
Speaking about the project, Kamat said the government remains committed to opening the flyover before August 24, reiterating that the target has been communicated to the agencies executing the work.
“The working has been completed. Now the load testing is going on. Finishing touches are going on,” Kamat said.
He also sought to reassure motorists and residents concerned about the project’s opening timeline, saying there was no need to panic.
The elevated corridor is expected to ease congestion along the busy Porvorim stretch, which regularly experiences heavy traffic. Kamat said the government had made arrangements to ensure the project moves towards opening after previous delays and challenges.
With load testing and final works underway, attention now shifts to the completion of safety checks before the corridor is opened to traffic.
