Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Demands Probe Into Killing of Three Tamil Men in Karnataka Forest Firing

Chamarajanagar: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has condemned the killing of three Tamil men in a firing incident in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district and called for a thorough investigation into the deaths.

The three men, identified as Antony Swamy, Peter and Kumar, were allegedly suspected of entering a forest area to engage in poaching. The incident took place early Saturday morning after Karnataka forest officials reportedly received information about suspected poachers operating in the area.

According to sources, forest personnel reached the location following the tip-off and allegedly came under fire from the suspected poachers. The officials reportedly retaliated, resulting in an exchange of gunfire in which the three men were killed.

Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Vijay said the explanation provided by the Karnataka Forest Department was “unacceptable” and called for a comprehensive probe to establish the circumstances that led to the deaths.

Authorities have seized several items from the scene, including documents, other materials and firearms. A postmortem examination of the deceased is currently underway as officials continue to investigate the incident.
