Lady doctor ends life with two minor daughters in River Mandovi l Body of 5-year-old yet to be traced

PORVORIM: In a shocking incident, a doctor attached to the Hospicio at Margao led her minor daughters to their deaths and also ended her own life when they reportedly jumped off the Mandovi bridge at Betim in the wee hours of Monday.
The bodies of Dr Vaishali Kambli (35) and Tanishka (2) were recovered from the river on Monday noon, while efforts were on to trace the body of Manasvi (5). The deceased were residents of Arrarim in Socorro, while Dr Vaishali was employed at the forensic department of Hospicio, Porvorim police said.
Police received a call at about 6.20 am on Monday stating that a scooter (GA-03-L-8452) had been found abandoned on the Mandovi Bridge and a woman’s chappals were by the side of the scooter.
Suspecting foul play, a Porvorim police team led by PI Manoj Mardolkar rushed in a Robert vehicle to the spot and also alerted the Marine Police and the Coast Guard of the incident.
At around the same time, Dr Vaishali’s husband, Dr Uttam Kambli, who is employed at the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, was proceeding towards the Kadamba Bus stand Panjim in search of his wife and their children, who were missing from their house. Along the way, he noticed a crowd at the bridge and quickly identified the scooter of his wife.
Marine Police and the Coast Guard conducted search operations in the river and managed to retrieve the body of Dr Vaishali at 12.25 pm, while the body of Tanishka was fished out at 1.20 pm. The body of Manasvi was yet to be traced, said police.
“We have registered the case as unnatural deaths under Section 174 CrPC. The bodies of the deceased have been preserved at the GMC hospital and the postmortem will be conducted on Tuesday,” said PI Mardolkar, who is supervising the investigations in the case.
Quoting a statement from Vaishali’s family members, police was quoted in a PTI report as
having stated that the doctor, hailing from Kolhapur in Maharashtra and living in Goa after marriage, was going through depression.
Police stated that the parents of Dr Vaishali had arrived from Bangalore on receiving news of the tragedy.
“We will speak to them on Tuesday as they were not in a mood to speak to the police on Monday evening,” a police official said.
Porvorim Police also informed that operations by the Marine Police and Coast Guard to locate the body of Manasvi were called on Monday night and will be resumed on Tuesday morning.
MARGAO REPORTER ADDS: Hospicio doctors expressed shock over the death of lady doctor, Vaishali Kambli and her two kids last night.
Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr PD Nachinolkar said Ms Kambli was always found quite since her posting at the Forensic department nearly a year and half ago. “We always found her quite and reserved,” he said, while asked whether she had any grievances about her work against anyone in the hospital or in the Director of Health Services.
“As far as I know, she had never expressed any complaint or grievance against anyone during her tenure at Hospicio since last year”, Dr Nachinolkar added.
