Although India did not perform well in the beginning, the way they came back to win the bronze medal at the recently concluded Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia is indeed commendable.
It’s true that players can’t perform at the same level everyday. It happens in sport but the victory over Australia and S.Korea were remarkable. It is said that attack is the best form of defense, but our defense needs to improve and more emphasis should be given on converting penalty corners if we are to come back and retain the Numero Uno position we once had in world hockey standings.
Our boys should be given more international exposure and improvement will show up for sure under our new coach Paul Van Ass. We wish Team India all the very best in the forthcoming Olympic qualifiers which is just around the corner in June 2015.
