25-yr-old Andhra woman crushed to death at Anjuna

PANJIM: In a tragic accident, a 25-year-old woman hailing from Andhra Pradesh was crushed to death after she came under the wheels of a four-wheeler at Starco Junction at Anjuna in the wee hours on Monday. 

According to the police, T Pujitha, hailing from Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, along with her friend Shivam Uplaksh, a native of Haryana, was proceeding to Pooja Restaurant from Starco junction. When they reached Manali Guest House, Shivam lost control of the rent-a-bike and dashed against a compound wall. Due to this, Pujitha, who was riding pillion, fell on the road and was run over by a car driven by Samreen Bawani, a native of Hyderabad. Even Samreen allegedly dragged Pujitha for 100 metres towards Pooja Restaurant.

The deceased was admitted to St Anthony Hospital, Anjuna, where doctor declared her brought dead. 

Speaking to O Heraldo, Anjuna PI  Prashal Dessai said the body has been preserved in Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, and post-mortem is likely to be conducted on March 12, 2024. 

  A case under Sections 279 and 304 A of IPC has been registered at Anjuna Police Station and Samreen Bawani has been arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
