PORVORIM/OLD GOA: Goa police is yet to identify the two persons murdered in separate incidents ~ one at Corlim and the other at Bastora.
The police informed that the decomposed body found below the bridge near Tar-Bastora on Monday evening had been mutilated.
According to Mapusa police, the body had been severed into pieces, with the head and torso stuffed in a polythene bag and packed in the suitcase. The police are on the lookout for the limbs and the two hands that are missing.
Considering the state of the decomposed body, the police feel that the victim may have been murdered about three to four days prior to the discovery of the body.
It may be recalled that the body was found in the suitcase on Monday evening when some labourers, working near Tar–Bastora, went below the bridge to answer nature’s call.
Mapusa Police informed Herald that since the body is yet to be identified, the autopsy has not been performed at the GMC College in Bambolim.
Mapusa police has been trying to match the face of the deceased with photographs of missing persons recorded with Goa Police and has also contacted all police stations in the State in this regard.
Meanwhile, the mystery into the murder of Kashinath Dhulapkar, a 65-year-old resident of Corlim, continues as the identity of the accused, who was also killed in retaliation by an irate mob, is yet to be ascertained.
When contacted, Old Goa police informed that they have sent a photo of the deceased accused to all the police station. “We are yet to receive any clue regarding his identity as yet,” an Old Goa police officer said.
An irate mob then mercilessly beat the accused and he later died of injuries at the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
