PANJIM, JUNE 14
Even a week after he was formally sworn in as the minister, NCP’s Thivim legislator Nilkanth Halarnkar is yet to be given any portfolio.
Halarnkar was sworn in on last Tuesday, after former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco resigned from the cabinet following his questioning by the Crime Branch in Nadia Torrado death case.
Halarnkar has expressed his desire to take over as the Tourism portfolio saying he would put an end to the rave parties in the State if given a chance.
However, when contacted he said that it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister to decide on the matter.
The NCP too wants the portfolios of Tourism, Captain of Ports and Housing Board be given to Halarnkar saying they were with their party minister earlier.
When contacted Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told Herald a decision in this regard is yet to be reached.
“There has been no decision on the portfolio as yet,” Kamat told this reporter over phone.
He said he will discuss with the high command and take a decision soon.
