The routine of a high powered executive is almost the same in any part of the world. The six-day weeks and the odd all work no holiday week. However a woman has other demands on her time which have to be satisfied. Tejashri has two kids, both of whom study in educational institutions in Panjim. After ensuring they wake up on time, have their breakfast and leave for school and college, Tejashri then devotes time to herself. She makes it a point to walk into the office at 9.30 am. Like many people in corporate life she does not have a time when she clocks out. Reading approximately 25 to 30 reports every day and travelling to the various workshops, body shops, used car sales office can take quite a toll. Every morning she starts her day with breathing exercises followed by meditation which helps her tackle the battles that she will undoubtedly face every day.
She admitted to not being a fan of working out in gym’s but is a great fan of long walks. These walks can last an hour and can be undertaken in the morning or could be one after dinner. It helps her to clear her head either before a day or after a crazy hectic one.
Her schedule does not allow her to spend time reading novels but she spends time reading the various newspapers and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the auto industry.
Tejashri said “I have access to a great deal of info on developments in the industry and yes I also read a lot on the strategies being adopted by international brands for innovation. I read to ensure my business benefits.”
Away from work she like to socialise and go to discos to shake a leg. Music is a great leveller for her. A fan of English, Hindi and Marathi songs she prefers English songs while driving and is quite the fan of Bryan Adams. She prefers to listen to her music on headphones will driving.
Unlike several others featured in this space, Tejashri is not a foodie. She however conceded that she was very particular about the food she ate. She said “When I eat non veg food I don’t want the smell to be off and yes when I travel abroad I like to eat the local cuisine.”
A restaurant she likes is the one at the Holiday Inn in Mobor. She may not care much for food but she loves travelling. As a senior executive with the number one car dealership in the state, she travels abroad every year. From Istanbul to Bali, Singapore, Switzerland, China and Dubai amongst several other countries she travels every year sometime on work and with family.
Asked of her hobbies she smiled and said she liked going on long drives and her dream was to drive her favourite car the Mercedes Benz. Like many successful individuals she has definite plans for her future. She said “When I started my career, I was very clear I wanted to have my own identity in society. Today, people know me in the business. I was also very clear that I wanted to be known as a good human being. I would like to help educated girls from villages who wantto get jobs. Many of them don’t really know how to go about things. I would like to train them I would like to go to the villages and help them”
She may be steering the fortunes of Maruti in the state but she certainly knows how to keep her feet on the ground.
