The branch was inaugurated by Rajnish Kumar, MD and GE (NBG), SBI. This is the first of its kind branch in Goa. SBI has 100 branches in Goa and over 16,500 branches in India.
Mr Kumar said, “This branch is representative of a new SBI. We are no more an old-styled bank and we are on the path of going completely digital. Mobile apps etc will soon be launched and we have already floated our ‘Wallet’ in the market which has shown great response.”
SBI has a target of launching at least 250 such INTOUCH branches in the country, of which 150 has already been launched this year (April 2015-March 2016). Apart from this, SBI will soon be launching SBI INCUBE for start-ups in Bengaluru. “The branch will be inaugurated by our chairperson on January 14 and it will cater to the needs and requirements of start-ups,” said Mr Kumar.
“Times are changing with technology and soon the days of cash transactions will be a thing of past as the technology changes. In next three to four years the face of banks will completely transform and SBI will be among the leaders. Time will come when there will only be electronic transaction and banks will go paperless. This will be the future face of banking in India,” said Mr Kumar.
He added that SBI was doing well in Goa and expected that with the resumption of mining, the business in the branches of SBI will grow further. The inaugural function was attended by Manosh Kumar Dutta, General Manager, Network -IV, Mumbai Circle; Prasanna Kumar P N, Regional Manager, RBO-1, Panjim and Aniket Shejwal, branch manager alongwith senior officials of SBI in Goa.
