The stupendous victory of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly elections has once again brought the party to the fore in the country. It must be said that after the victory in the last elections for the Delhi assembly when Arvind Kejriwal ruled the state for 49 days there was a lot of party activity of AAP in the state of Goa.
Several prominent citizens of the state supported the Aam Admi Party . But then this seems to have followed by a lull in the party activities in Goa after the AAP suffered a debacle in the Lok Sabha elections with even party supremo Arvind Kejriwal losing the elections. The hallmark of a vibrant democracy is a strong opposition and the fact that the citizens have a wider choice among political parties at the time of the elections.
With the AAP victory, it seems the right time to revive the party in the state. With the Goa assembly elections about two years away, it would also be the right time for the AAP to work with more energy so that people in the state have a third alternative beside the two main political parties. The victory of the party in the Delhi assembly elections should come as a tremendous boost for the AAP in the state of Goa.
It is pertinent to note that there has been a lot of buzz in the state about reviving the Aam Admi Party ever since the party’s tremendous victory in Delhi. It must be said that the AAP in Goa needs a leader of the caliber and a clean image like Mr. Arvind Kejriwal to lead the party in the 2017 assembly elections. It is pertinent to note that the AAP in Delhi got the maximum number of votes from the poor and the lower middle-class citizens. The AAP in Goa should work with the poor people in mind. The political party should win the confidence of the poor who can swing the result of the elections in it’s favour.
AAP’s top priorities in Delhi has been ensuring time-bound delivery of service, granting 50% subsidy to power consumers in the 0-400 units bracket among others. The AAP in Goa should go to the people with promise to provide solution to burning issues in the state. It would be in the fitness of things for the party to project a leader who will lead the party in the 2017 elections and who will also be their Chief Ministerial candidate just like the AAP in Delhi projected Arvind Kejriwal.
