During interrogation, Jamwal admitted that he had been planning to kill the 88-year-old National Conference chief for the past two decades. He described the attempt as a personal vendetta and said the weapon used was his own. Authorities noted that Jamwal appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Police have ruled out any terror angle in the attack, confirming it was motivated purely by personal reasons. Abdullah and the other leaders escaped unharmed, and security measures at the venue were credited with averting a possible catastrophe.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of senior political leaders, especially at public events. Authorities have assured that further investigations will be conducted and additional precautions will be taken to ensure the security of all dignitaries in Jammu and Kashmir.
